Societat Coral Amics de la Unió

The Granollers Chamber Choir, under the direction of Josep Vila Jover, was founded in 1996 as part of the music school created within the framework of the Societat Coral Amics de la Unió, an entity with a long tradition since 1877 in the promotion and dissemination of choral music. Since 2017 , it has been the resident ensemble at the Teatre Auditori de Granollers , a fact that has consolidated its role as a cultural reference in the city and the country.

The choir’s repertoire covers a wide range of genres, periods and styles, from religious and secular polyphony to contemporary music , including baroque, classicism, romanticism and traditional songs from around the world . It has performed in some of the most prestigious venues in Catalonia, such as the Palau de la Música Catalana and L’Auditori de Barcelona . With an extensive career, the choir has participated in international choral singing festivals in both Spain and Europe.

He has collaborated with formations such as the Barcelona and National Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC) and the Vallès Symphony Orchestra (OSV) and Vespres d’Arnadí , under the direction of renowned conductors such as Álvaro Albiach , Robert King , Manel Valdivieso , Christian Grube , Xavier Puig , Salvador Brotons , Edmon Colomer , Hartmut Haenchen , Josep Vila Casañas and Josep Caballé . This intense activity has earned him recognition such as Second Prize at the XLVIII Ejea de los Caballeros Choral Competition in 2019 .

In the recording field, the choir has published ” Josep Maria Ruera, Música vocal ” (2009) and ” Despres del Jazz ” (2011), a collaboration with the Martí Ventura Quartet . In 2018, it recorded the production Cantem , available on its YouTube channel, and in 2021 it presented ” Renaissance “, which includes a selection of works from the European Renaissance.
