Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms

Bernstein takes inspiration from the Psalms for a moving choral work. The text, adapted by the composer himself, is based on passages from the Book of Psalms in Hebrew, creating a spiritual and emotional atmosphere.

Specially commissioned for the 1965 Chichester Festival, this work has become one of Bernstein’s most performed. His innovative style fuses elements of jazz and contemporary music, offering an accessible and moving experience for all audiences.
