Rutter’s Magnificat

A concert where two of the most popular works of the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius will coexist with the Magnificat of the English composer John Rutter. A Magnificat understood as a musical setting of the biblical canticle with the text in Latin, based on the prayer attributed by Saint Luke to the Mother of God when he knew she was to be the mother of Christ and expanded with the interpolation of Marian prayers and poems chosen by the composer himself, such as the anonymous English Of a Rose, a lovely Rose .
